The AHA! Movement is a non-profit educational organization started by Debbie Smith, MM in memory of her son, Matt Carrington, who was killed in a fraternity hazing in 2005. The purpose of the movement is to provide our youth with the knowledge to recognize and put an end to senseless violence, emotional and physical damage in the name of tradition, brotherhood or sisterhood. It is the hope of Debbie Smith to prevent damage to our youth as well as the pain that she, her family and all Matt’s loved ones endured after his senseless death. The goal is to bring awareness as well as empowerment to our youth so they are in a position to stand up and say no more. What they don’t know can kill them. Currently, the AHA movement has been limited to colleges and high schools, but hazing begins as early as elementary school so we need to rise up to this challenge. We are asking people to join the movement, or support the movement in any way they can. You can support the AHA! Movement by helping spread our message, or by donating to our cause at www.ahamovement.org.
